of twiddling thumbs

So there is no net at work… Something happened and it’s completely beyond our control to fix it.

*sigh* Didn’t realise how much we used the net for our tasks… now we, Claudie and I, are just sitting here twiddling our thumbs…

Okay rather, I’ve been writing book reviews, and I’m not too sure what Claudie’s up to =P

I also did some rough skeleton outlines of what the rest of the capstone will contain… hmm…

I guess I could start with working on it more *sighs*

Richard said that he can’t give me any more work until he finishes this urgent documentation for Shara, and only then can he think about tasks that doesn’t require the net.

So.. twiddling thumbs.

~**~

Much later…

Yay! Net is back up =D
Found out it’s not Monday and had thus incorrectly titled the Work Spam subject line. Crap…

~**~

10 Minutes Later…

So… the net has gone down again… I think it’s teasing us. But it’s driving my poor research manager crazy hehe

~**~

Crap… It’s music lesson day today, so Richard has to leave early and Claudie leaves @ her usual time… which leaves me to wait for the Telstra guy to come (who doesn’t know when he’ll be) .. and no net to amuse myself with. Noooo, gonna be so bored T_T baaaaah *sighs* I guess I’ll just do my capstone

I’m so glad there are Avatar episodes waiting for me at home =D That and my uggs.. mmm uggs

16:15

Yay! Dude’s coming in about 15 minutes. Hmm, let’s play “Imagine what person looks like based on their voice”.
Boots (but then I guess that comes with the job), medium to biggish build – either stocky or slightly chubby, square-ish face, scruffy-looking (y’know, old oil stains on overalls or a scruffy beard), brown/sandy haired – lightly tousled, slightly weathered face, in his 30’s.
Beginnings of a pot belly.

….

I was entirely wrong. Except I think I was right to say he’s in his 30’s. *shrugs* then again I’ve always been pretty horrible guessing people’s ages.
Bit of a slender side. *sighs* Not cute though, I was kinda hoping for some ogling or what not being deprived of net-ness.

of being a n00b and posting secrets

I’d hate to be in tech support. I’d hate to be on the receiving end of abusive and angry customers. I’d like to think that I’m a pretty good customer to have on the phone – I don’t yell or scream and I think I’m pretty reasonable.

But that was before I had to call up Telstra about 2 bills they sent me within two days – one of which said that I was overdue with my last payment (which I had paid) and the other wanted $119.90 (which I thought was a bit too enthusiastic of them).

The guy I had was really, really nice and very patient. It was me being the n00b and got my dates mixed up, so while everything he said made sense, I thought they were double charging me for May. Ugh. He would talk about my April bill and I would correct him with “you mean May” *slight pause* “No.. April” and keep talking. I got all confused and when he finished, I was like “okay, that made total sense… but I’ve already paid for May” *pause* “You mean April,” he corrected. Umm…

On the third time he was explaining the charges, I looked at the details of the last bill I paid and it said April… I was a bit embarrassed because the front of the bill just said pay by May, not that it was paying for the month of May. Bah.

I lie… I was a lot embarrassed. I laughed as soon as I realised my blunder, interrupting his explanation, and said, “Oh! The last bill was for April!” In a slightly reproachful voice, he replied, “Yes, that’s right…”

But full marks for being professional and all that. He pleasantly asked if there was anything else he could help me with and I kind of mentally giggled that most probably he was fervently hoping this n00b of a customer would say no.

I think if I was in his position, I would have been banging my head quietly on the desk.

Sadly, this made me realised that I’m one of those thick-headed customers who are just as irritating as those abusive ones… only more stealthily.

PostSecret anyone? =D It was a bit late today, but better late than never! ^_^

Yay! Hot chocolate FTW! XD The faces on my supervisor and CEO’s were priceless when I asked for hot chocolate because I don’t like coffee.

Don’t think there’s anything wrong with that =D Though I do feel sorry for today’s kids… their cartoons are crap! No more quality cartoons like Transformers, Gummi Bears, Eek! the Cat, Earthworm Jim, Freakazoid!, Inspector Gadget, Hey Arnold!, Aaahh!!! Real Monsters, Animanics, Tiny Toons, Pinky and the Brain, Angry Beavers, Adventures of TinTin, Danger Mouse, Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers, Daria, Batman, Wild Thornberrys, Gargoyles… yea okay… I think you get the point.

What do they have now?! Power Puff Girls, Bratz, Camp Lazlo… yeah.. alright, I’m a bit behind with what free-to-air tv, Nickelodeon, or Cartoon Network are showing, but invaribly when I have watched them, they’re just not interesting and I don’t really like them. *makes a face* I’m quite sure there are gems out there, like Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends and Jackie Chan Adventures (I think I’m biased towards Mr. Chan hehe)… but there’s just too few imho =P

Recommend me a good western cartoon that’s been made in the last 2 years and I’ll watch it.

(Animes are always on a different level to western cartoons, so I haven’t mentioned any.)

of mr. lee’s outings

So I’ve been procrastinating horribly at a most really important time: my capstone thesis is due in about 2 weeks and I still haven’t finished! Ugh! I suck.

Anywho… I was at I can has cheezburger? when I saw a link that said: “ever wonder where ur cat goes when/if they leave the house?” I for one was curious, even if I don’t own a cat!

A german dude this “crazy” idea of attaching a mini-camera to his cat’s (Mr. Lee) neck that would intermittedly take photos every 1 minute (he modified a key chain camera for this purpose, details which can be found here). It was interesting to see what cats get up to, or rather this particular cat. I’m not sure if this a new thing or if it’s been around for a while, but it kept me amused for about 5 minutes. =P

Some photos I found interesting:

Lol @ cat sitting on axle, crankshaft, or differential – I can’t tell =P

I really like that last one! =)

I’ve got a crazy amount of things planned to do after capstone’s finished… I can’t wait to revel in mangas, books, movies, and general guilt-free bludging =D w00t… but first… must finish capstone and must pass … T_T sooooo don’t wanna do it again… ugh!

oh oh.. and not to forget… NZ snow trip in August!!!! =D YAY!!! ^________________^
