“Where are you?” my brother’s voice petulantly asked. Equally as petulant, I replied (still a bit dazed from an all too brief nap on the train home), “I’ve just left the station, I’m 20 minutes away.”
“20 minutes?!” my brother echoed rather horrifiedly; he’s been waiting for me to get home ever since he got home from school and though I had left work a little earlier than usual, it was apparent from his tone of voice that it wasn’t early enough.
Mum thought it would be a Good Idea to get my brother out and about, rather than being stuck at home – glued to his computer all weekend – and got inspired by my upcoming trip to NZ (OMG! which is next Saturday!! @_@)… sooo hence our trip to Perisher Valley.
We stayed at Snowline Caravan Park – not too bad actually: 2 nights during peak season was $505 for 4 people in a cabin with ensuite, full kitchen stuff, a/c, and a (tiny) tv.
We tobogganned at Smiggin Holes, Perisher Blue and it was snowing when we got there! =D What luck! When it wasn’t snowing, it was bright and sunny =) It got a bit windy and snow was stinging our faces, but overall the weather was quite excellent.
The boys and I built a snowman! They didn’t believe me that if you rolled a snowball around, it’d get bigger *snorts* I sure showed them! …. though it was a bit of a slow lesson (and tiring one at that) cuz it got bigger heaps slow. Our next snowball (the head) was quickly made though: got Daniel to bring over heaps of loose snow and we basically rolled and packed it til it was big. Go Team! =D
There were a couple of other snowmen too – one even had a carrot for a nose! =D Hahha talk about being prepared =P But for some reason (mebbe it was because it was about as big as a toddler) as soon as we moved away from our snowman, it was pretty much swamped by people taking photos with it for the rest of the day. Some had modified it – someone stuck a stick into its head, someone took the stick out of its head, and another had put a small but very round snowball on top. lol our snowman was pimpin’ hahhaha XD
What really annoyed me though was that some people did NOT have the common sense to WALK on the SIDES of the hill – they walked up the hill right in the middle!!! WTF! Grrr… it really bothered my anal, pedantic sensibilities. In Berlin, there was an unspoken etiquette that those walking up the hill would walked to one side of the hill. Whyyyy couldn’t they do that?! bah. There was one major accident where this kid accidentally plowed down TWO kids (one girl, one boy) right after each other. Saw her go flying up into the air, tumbling, then falling back down really heavily onto the ground. Man, was she bawling her eyes out after that. The second kid wasn’t too bad cuz the girl pretty much slowed the toboggan-kid down. Felt sorry for the toboggan-kid, he just watched bewildered and when his dad came up to talk to him, after a while he ended up crying as well. Poor things.
(And yet they STILL walked up in the middle of the hill! Bah!)
Turns out… we weren’t suppose to be tobogganning there… there’s a place called Piper’s Ridge that we’re suppose to use… lol oopsy.
We left Smiggins at about 3:30 – I was annoyed slightly and tired (man, that hill was just… gah… so unfit! lol) and my brother’s toe hurt because he reckons he’s got an ingrown toenail that’s been aggravated. Ew.
Photos are being uploaded as we speak… as I type… so I’ll link them up soon. Meanwhile, here are some of my favourite shots from the weekend.
[Edit 22:19: Photos on Flickr, Picasaweb]
The boys pretty much fell asleep straight away when we got home and I ended up finishing Harry Potter.
Well… that’s pretty much it of the weekend… we didn’t do anything that exciting, so there’s not much to tell…
Other things included:
-
car remote battery died so we had to use the key for the rest of the trip
-
My lens squeaks a bit when I focus on things.. hmm… Ram thinks is a bit damp inside because of the snow
-
my mother dropped my camera bag because she was fumbling for the house keys and none of the boys even THOUGHT of giving her a hand (while I was at the car, realising that it wasn’t opened, was waiting for mom to give me the keys to open the boot) – it now makes a rattling noise =( I don’t blame anyone but myself though but it’s *grrr* and *le sigh*
-
of course this ensued an argument between my brother and I, because I though it was high time I told him he was a selfish brat… but it didn’t come out very well and he took it as me blaming him for the droppage, which I wasn’t.. so he didn’t talk to me for the rest of the car ride
Meh. So long as the camera still works… it’s all good… but I kinda do worry… cuz it’s less than a year old and already it’s rattling… AND i’m gonna take it over to NZ…. I hope it’ll survive the trip.
Like I told Dat earlier tonight (straight out of gtalk):
“otherwise i’ll be crying
:T
well
more depressed and angry and u prolly won’t see me for a while because i won’t be fit for public
lol”
And that basically sums it up
