of mostly eating… again

A couple of Fridays ago was Mong’s birthday and we celebrated in belly-bursting style by eating at Braza, a Brazilian restaurant. For $38, it was all-you-can eat assorted meats and side dishes. It was so hard to say “no” whenever a waiter would come up to you and ask, “Beef / Pork / Rib / Chicken?” displaying delicious looking roasts on giant skewers. So inevitably, I would say “yes” enthusiastically, getting my tongs ready to hold the slice of meat he would be cutting off.

If you ever do end up in Braza, try the pineapple from the skewer – it is so juicy, sweet, and warm! My second helping had a dash of cinnamon on it too! Mmmmmmmmm so good.

We loitered around The Forum afterwards, where some of us had ice cream. When I came into the cafe to the ice cream display, Betty and the owner were having a hearty (and slightly rowdy) discussion on why she couldn’t sample the ice cream before she bought some. Hahahaha… okay, I think it was a “you had to be there thing”.

The Saturday after that, Myle, Ruby, and I decided to venture out for some Moroccan food at Souk in the City in Surry Hills (though I would have called it… well… the Oxford Street area because it’s practically next to Taylor Square).

Anywho, we were very impressed with the decor – it was so… pretty (for lack of a better adjective)! And we totally loved the attention to detail with the decor, including their toilets!

Strange as it may seem, I believe that a restaurant is only as posh as their toilets. Some places are really really nice… until you go to the toilet and you’re like… what the… Souk in the City’s toilet is not as pretty as its dining area, but it was quite above average. What really impressed us (that’s not too hard I think hahah) was that the door to the toilets was “hidden” – it’s basically just a rectangular cut of the wall with hinges, there’s no signs or anything to show that it’s the door to the toilets. Of course a major drawback to this was that people would hunt around for the toilets and then resort to asking one of the many and busy waiters/waitresses where the heck they are. Heh.

I digress. The food was very “top notch” – we loved all of the dishes we ordered (except for ruby and the lamb dish because it still tasted too “lamby” for her) and it was wonderfully finished off with gorgeous desserts (the panna cotta with pomegranate jelly was absolutely and superbly flawless).

The barramundi was the best fish dish I had ever had the pleasure to eat. Every ingredient and the way it was cooked was perfect.

Oh! Also, if you do find yourself at Souk in the City – I hope you’re not hungry: that little 3-course dinner we shared took a little under 3 hours to go through. And don’t forget to try the fluffy couscous!!!

The Sunday following that Saturday was Joy’s birthday get together.

It was nice to meet her boyfriend, catch up on things, and get to try out her wheelchair.

Photos should be up soon, I forgot to upload cuz they’re on my digi. cam. =.=

Hmmm… nothing much happened over the Easter break – couple of bbqs, lots of lazing around and sleeping.. oh! and we finally managed to have dinner at Charlotte and Nogz’ place =D It was a lot of fun and yummy (Charlotte’s an awesome cook ^_^) and it was a pity I had a really bad allergic reaction before coming to their place … and without any antihistamine pills =.= gah.
